The different names
of French Fries
While these yummy strips of fried
potatoes are known as French Fries in most countries of the world today, they
are known as chips, crisps and fries in the US. It is believed that the
misconception of this snack or accompaniment being French happened during the
First World War, when invading troops entered Belgium and tasted the amazing
Fries. They thought that the same was a part of French cuisine, and started
calling them French Fries, when in reality these were Belgian Fries.
Go easy on the Fries
Obesity levels in the US are on an
all-time high because of the predominance of junk food in their diet. One of
the major culprits behind this is the excessive consumption of French Fries. Up
to a certain limit, indulging in this will not harm you, but with the
exorbitant consumption of this deep-fried, you cholesterol levels are
definitely going to hit the roof!
